Welcome

After traveling around the country to over 26 Grateful Dead shows and living a full-on party lifestyle between 1987–1990, Wade Hacker came face to face with Jesus Christ—and his life was forever changed on July 21, 1990. That defining moment impacted him so that he began to go by his first name, David. Wade means “wanderer” and David means “beloved of God” so the name change signified the new life in Christ.

Before his final Grateful Dead show, Wade had already written several “dead” songs using his banjo. After encountering Jesus, David Wade picked up the guitar and soon began worshiping the King of Glory through music and his lifestyle.

David believes that our vocations, art, households, finances, relationships, and lifestyle are placed under the governance of Christ the King. Jesus in scriptures presented discipleship as an identity that generates a lifestyle. These songs have come from a lifestyle that he embraced over 3 decades ago. He shortened his artist name to D.W. Hacker.

David is deeply grateful and honored for the friendships of gifted musicians and vocalists who have added color and depth to these songs. Shout out to Drew Lawson, David Ellis, Matt Jackson and Ryan McDougall on the Bigger Than Life album. Jason Hoard, Brian Scoggin and other awesome friends as well as April Farmer who helped on background vocals on the Eternal Flow album. There is more to come!
